OUR STORY

RaasLeela Textile

After all, what is the point of making sustainable products if the maker isn’t happy! We believe working with us should be an experience to rejoice and not just a means to earn a living! Because that's how it should be! "Celebrated Irregularities & Individuality" We don’t want it to be the same anyway! Simply because it is handmade! (How each cluster is given pieces of textile for them to show what they can) Same stitch of each artisan is different and the same stitch of the same artisan could be different too! We don’t want it to be the same anyway! Simply because it is handmade!

OUR ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY PROFILE

After all, why should marine life be disturbed just for our looking good! Textile chemical is the second most water polluting industry! So, we thought of using RAW/KORA/GREIGE cotton fabrics that are completely unprocessed and guilt-free! After all, why should the marine life be disturbed just for our looking good! We are RaasLeela and we are a part of the second most water polluting industry in the world- the Fashion Industry. Now how are we mending that, you must be wondering. Well, let us brush up on some vital facts regarding the same. The most commonly used vat and direct dyes in the industry today, are hazardous for all life forms. It has been scientifically proven that to us humans they cause harmful skin diseases and gradual genetic damage. Not only this is bad for the marine and human life but is almost lethal for our forests too. 17-20% of industrial pollution is caused by textile dyeing and this wastewater consorting of hazardous chemicals flows into the irrigation channels and down to the water tables. We use Kora, Dye free, bleach free, hand-spun, hand-woven cotton fabric considering it as a generous step towards a sustainable upbringing. For us, “Not wasting is more important than up-cycling” is our core inspiration. All the zero waste studio, material planning starts at the very beginning of designing and carefully take care of that literally nothing should be wasted. Because if we waste less, we will have less to up-cycle!
