OUR STORY

Jaipur Rugs

What began with two looms and nine artisans has grown into a people-led movement connecting over 40,000 artisans across 600 villages in five Indian states to markets in more than 60 countries. At its heart lies a simple belief: dignity and opportunity must reach even the most remote artisan. Because as women rise, entire communities benefit through stronger local economies, reduced distress migration, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The Jaipur Rugs Foundation disrupts this imbalance by building a transparent, fair-trade ecosystem that directly connects village artisans to global markets, ensuring consistent work, fair wages, and economic security. At Jaipur Rugs, our values are shaped by empathy, simplicity, integrity, humility, and shared wisdom. We see the world through the eyes of artisans and honour every hand behind our craft. By bringing together experience and knowledge, we create not just rugs, but meaningful connections between people and purpose. As we say, we don’t just sell carpets, we carry a family’s blessings.

OUR ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY PROFILE

At Jaipur Rugs, sustainability begins with people. Our work is rooted in ethical practices that ensure dignity, fairness, and transparency across the hand-knotted carpet value chain. We build direct relationships with artisans, eliminate exploitative intermediaries, and ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and consistent livelihoods for rural weaving communities. Through the Jaipur Rugs Foundation, we provide looms, materials, healthcare access, financial inclusion, and training—preserving craft traditions while strengthening communities. We prioritize natural fibres like wool, cotton, and bamboo silk. Our Manchaha collection transforms leftover yarn (RMR) into one-of-a-kind rugs, reducing waste. Many carpets use low-impact dyes from GOTS-certified sources and advanced fixation processes for long-lasting color. Our rugs are certified by GoodWeave (child-labor-free), SA8000, ISO 9001:2008, and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, ensuring ethical production, quality, and safety.
