Stories From A Fossilised Seabed WAS SKILLFULLY HANDMADE BY FRANCES v.H Studio IN SOUTH AFRICA
PART OF THE 'Are We There Yet' COLLECTION.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS PRODUCT
This piece tries to capture the belly of the Karoo and what remnants of past nourishment can teach us something about our current state of IBS. Once the bottom of the ocean floor, we now live on top of the fossilised seabed. Stories From A Fossilised Seabed attempts to excavate the findings embedded into the fibre of the landscape. Fossils from this region are often shells, fish, coral, remains of a distant time when water was as common as the dust we live with today. We specifically kept this piece in neutrals, stripped of colour, so that you pay attention to the markings. Every section of this piece is unique. We try to warp the viewers’ attention to characters, movement, stich details, and threads that might otherwise be overlooked. Some of this detailing may never be seen, but like those in search of rare finds, once you know what you are looking for, seemingly vacant barren earth suddenly exposes itself as an unearthed piece of history that sits under your toes waiting for you.
