THE STORY BEHIND THIS PRODUCT
'Moonlight Leaking on a Dried-up Lake' showcases dusk, when the moon is full and hangs out in the open long before night creeps in. A day-moon, peeping by day and staying up all night - surely, she is over worked? The skies turn soft. Feminine skies perfectly offsetting the rugged, harsh earth. A watercolour of light moves across the plains. In the same way we chase the light of the Karoo, this work echo’s this illusive quest in the ever-changing internal landscape of a morphing woman.
Women talking to mothers, women talking to women, women talking to men, a woman in conversation with herself. Impossible to pin down. Impossible to sum up.
This pieces honours existence and make up. The stitch detail asking you to look at the warp. Is that warp or is it hand stitched markings? The rabbit trots down from her perch in the moon and decides tonight she wants to go out dancing on the vlaktes.
